Setting Gmail On Ms. Outlook


Gmail provides POP (Post Office Protocol) so that we can use a local mail client software to be able to receive and send e-mail without having to open the browser to open Gmail.
Benefit more by using email client software to open the email is access will be faster, and we can open the email without having to always be online because the mail will be downloaded to our computer.

Here's how to setting Gmail  using Microsoft Outlook 2007, (for Ms outlook 2003 and Ms. Outlook 2010 are not too different )

• The first step, go / login to Gmail through the web browser to activate the facility of POP

• Go to the Account Setting , at the right up side of the page

• Choose / Click on the  Gmail - Setting

• Choose the tab : Forwarding And POP/IMAP
• At the POP Download menu, give a checklist to the Enable POP (there are 2 options of delivering mail, choose what you want )



• Klik :  Save Changes




• Run the  Microsoft Outlook Program
• If no mail seting before, then will appear wizard for setting new mail , just follow the instructions
• otherwise, we do add new email manually
• Click at the Tools menu, then choose the Account Settings



• At the E-mail tab,  klik New


• Choose and give a  checklist to the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP , then click Next




• Account dan Server  Setting
Your Name :  Your name
E-mail Address : your Gmail address
Account Type : choose POP3
Incoming mail server : pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) : smtp.gmail.com
User Name  : your Gmail  user name
Password : your Gmail password




• Click on More Settings
• At the Outgoing Seeting tab, give a cheklist to the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, then click OK


• Click on Advanced tab
Server Port Numbers
Incoming Server (POP3) : 995
Give a checklist to the This server requires an encripted connection (SSL)
Outgoing server (SMTP) : 465
At the Use the following type of encripted connection, choose SSL
Click OK





• To test the connection, click on Test Account Setting,  the status will be Completed at the incoming and  sending if all setting are right.



Now, receiving and sending gmail are ready using Microsoft Office Outlook .
