Toshiba Portege R500 Boot is too Slow

I have old Toshiba Portege R500 Laptop, every time the laptop was turned On, it would take a long time in booting process, about 15 minutes.  I could go for dinner while waiting until computer was ready for use :). Now the laptop is already in normal condition again, but doesn't have the CD/DVD drive, because it is disable by disconnecting the data cable from/to the CD/DVD drive. What I did is unplug/removing the socket to the CD/DVD drive. • Prepare the small screw driver (plus type screw driver). • Remove the laptop battery. • Open the bottom cover by opening all screws first.

Laptop's Card reader sometime not work

In my laptop, when I connected a memory card to the card reader of the laptop, sometime it was detected. sometime not detected. I tried other memory card, it was still the same problem. I thought the  laptops's memory card reader was damaged. It turns out the memory card is not damaged The problem is solved. In the BIOS setting of my laptop, there is an option named Card Reader Power Saving , I changed it from Enable to Disable . The memory card is always detected now. Maybe you have the same problem, and has card reader power saving setting in the computer/laptop's BIOS setting, you can try.

BIOS IS NOT UEFI! Solve the problem

In my Toshiba laptop, when I try to boot using external boot I get the error message: BIOS IS NOT UEFI! The problem solved after I change  Boot mode   in System Configuration menu in BIOS setting. Restart the Toshiba laptop and go to the BIOS menu, (press F2 key many times during computer up) Make Disable the Secure Boot

How to Resolve Long Time Booting on Toshiba Portege R500

I have Toshiba laptop  Portege R500, for about 2 years it was Ok and no problem happen. But after 2 years   it had a problem, when turned power on, it took a long time in BIOS ( about 5 minutes) before loading the operating system (Windows). Now the problem is solved. Cause is error in DVD Drive, I have not decided to look for the new DVD drive, i did to disconnect the DVD from the laptop,  it doesn't matter for me without the CD/DVD R-RW drive. If you have the same problem with your Portege R500, maybe this can solve your problem too.
